Steico Insulating Wood Fibreboard Effective protection from summer heat is one of the key qualities distinguishing STEICO wood fibre insulation materials from conventional insulation materials. The primary goal here is to provide the parameters ensuring a considerable delay in the heat ingress from outside through a building structure.
The heat energy that arises at the time of the greatest solar radiation is supposed to ingress into the house with a minimum delay of 12 hours (phase shift). In this way the heat energy reaches the interior only once it has become cooler outside.
The following key parameters, distinguishing STEICO insulation materials, are crucial for the summer heat protection:
- low thermal diffusivity, starting at 0.038 w/ (m·K) for STEICO insulation materials
- high specific thermal storage capacity, amounting to 2100 J/(kg·K) for STEICO insulation materials, as compared with 1000 J/(kg·K) for mineral fibre insulation
- high gross density – 45-250 kg/m3 for STEICO insulation materials
With STEICO quality insulation materials, a heat ingress delay of up to 15 hours may easily be attained. The parameters of the conventional materials lie, by comparison, about 50% below the STEICO`s therm standard.
The Steico building system comprises all elements for thermally efficient floor, ceiling, wall or roof construction.
