Timber Cladding

Timber cladding has become a popular choice for Architects and Specifiers looking for a sustainable, durable and versatile walling finish. Timber cladding comes in a range of different styles and aesthetics to suit a range of uses. Some of the more commonly used finishes are shown below:

Western Red CedarWestern Red Cedar - Western Red Cedar is a non-resinous coniferous softwood. The timber's colour can vary from a dark chocolate-brown to a salmon pink colour. Over time this colouring matures down to a reddish-brown and, in time, to silver-grey - this weathered appearance is often sought-after by architects.

Larch claddingSiberian Larch - Siberian Larch is a resinous coniferous softwood. The timber's colour can vary from pale red-brown to brick red in colour, with clearly marked rings. The wood is straight grained and contains knots with a fine uniform texture.

ThermowoodThermowood - ThermoWood ® is produced by heat treating Finnish grown pine to temperatures in excess of 200 degrees Centigrade. During heat treatment, chemical and structural changes occur within the timber which alter and improve some of its basic characteristics. The resulting product is an altogether more durable and stable timber, an ideal material for use in exposed areas such as external wall claddings.

Douglas Fir CladdingDouglas Fir - Douglas Fir is another resionous coniferous softwood. The timber is a fairly consistent light reddish-brown but the contrast between earlywood and latewood shows prominent growth rings  which show as an abrupt colour contrast on plain sawn timber and rotary cut veneers.
